Selling at Auction (cont.)![]() Shipping ![]() After the decision has been made to consign property to auction, arrangements must be made to ship the item(s) to Manor & Street for cataloging, the assignment of a pre-sale estimate, and preview display. Manor & Street requires objects for estate and specialty auctions be delivered not less than ninety (90) days prior to sale, and not less than fifteen (15) working days prior for Habitat auctions. Arrangements for packing, shipping, and insurance are solely at the discretion of the seller. Manor & Street will consult with clients regarding the safest and most efficient method of conveyance, should they not be currently familiar with transport industry customs.![]() Auction Agreement ![]() Soon after your property has been safely delivered to Manor & Street, you will receive two (2) copies of our client auction agreement. One copy of the agreement should be signed and returned to Manor & Street, and the other retained for your personal records. Manor & Street is unable to offer items for sale at auction without a signed contract from the seller. A copy of the catalogue containing descriptions of your property for auction will be mailed to you approximately three (3) weeks prior to sale for specialty auctions, and one (1) week for Habitat sales.![]() Reserve Selling ![]() Auction procedures allow for consignors to assign a minimum acceptable price for their items below which they will not sell. This practice is commonly referred to as "setting a reserve". The reserve price of an item is determined between the seller and Manor & Street in strict confidence prior to formalizing the auction agreement. If the bidding on an item does not reach the agreed upon confidential reserve, then the item is "bought in", and returned unsold to the seller. Manor & Street does not accept reserve bids on items estimated to sell below $500 at specialty sales, and on all items at Habitat auctions. A buy back commission will be charged to the consignor on unsold reserve property equal to 5% of the reserve amount.Should a seller wish to reconsign an item to a future auction, Manor & Street requires that it be sold without reserve.![]() [Top] [Page 1] [Page 3] |
